Reflectors — 1-2% of the population

Reflectors are rare birds. One Reflector once told me as I went through her design, “Well that explains why I when I was in grade school I told a new bus driver, ‘I’m kind of weird kid.’”

Reflectors have no defined centers. Their chart looks “empty” in that way, but it is filled with gates, acting as potentials.

Reflectors really do operate by a different set of rules. They experience the world totally differently than the rest of us. Through their open centers, they take in, amplify, and reflect back the energy of others. They act as mirrors of whomever they’re with.

Reflector Energy

Reflectors can’t help but tune into the energy of whomever they’re with and reflect it back to them — the experience for the other is that “this person really sees me.” And they do. Their vulnerability is feeling like they are being valued for what they are reflecting rather than being who they truly are and end up feeling invisible. Their partners, feeling the intensity of the reflection of themselves back to them, might mistakenly believe that the reflection is who the Reflector really is.

Reflector auras are “resistant” and “sampling.” Despite their openness, there is a resilience to Reflectors in their auras that allows them to “sample” the energies of those around them without taking them in too deeply.

Of course, they may not realize that this is their special gift and way of being, and may succumb to pressure to be like everyone else — and over identify with the people closest to them. They can deplete and exhaust themselves trying to keep up with Generators. They may hang on to dysfunctional energy in their environment because that is what they know or think is normal.

They are meant to let it pass through them, a flow of energy coming in, amplifying, and going back out.

This energetic sensitivity means that they are exquisitely attuned to the energy of not only the people around them, but the group, the community, the planet, and the cosmos. They can feel when something is “off.” They are the true “canaries in the coal mine.”

Their capacity to sample energy without overly identifying with it makes them especially good mediators and group facilitators. They can feel the balance of the energy in the room. They can tell who is being authentic, and who isn’t.

The Lunar Connection

All the other types are solar-based; Reflectors are lunar based. They are particularly attuned to the energies and rhythms of the moon, and are well served by understanding the lunar cycle and working with it..

For a Reflector, each day is different — because of the transits moving through on a 28 day cycle, they get to experience themselves as almost different people each day. The rhythm of that cycle creates a predictability that they can depend on.

Because of their connection to the lunar cycle, their “Authority,” or decision-making strategy is to wait out that 28-day cycle and see how they feel at the end of it. Obviously this is for bigger decisions — they don’t need to wait 28 days to decide what to have for dinner. But they do need to give themselves the time and space to wait through the cycle to get their clarity.

If they succumb to pressure from others to rush their decisions, they can run the risk of letting others determine what is right for them. They may become dependent on others who have a more reliable Authority/decision-making process. It’s so unhealthy for them, at every level.

Time Alone and Finding Your Place

Because of their openness, Reflectors need a lot of time away from others. They need time and space to empty out of external energies and reconnect with themselves.

In spending time alone, they can determine how they want to participate in the groups around them. Their incredible capacity to feel the energy of those around them, and know who is being authentic and who isn’t, needs understanding and nurturing, first of all by themselves.

“Place” is vitally important to a Reflector. Finding the right physical environment, as well as the right community, is central to Reflectors fulfilling their purpose here on Earth. As with Projectors, spending time with unhealthy energy can cause them to become physically ill, not just emotionally unhealthy. So being discerning about that is key.

Sleep

Reflectors do well sleeping alone, so they can empty out of the energies they’ve accumulated through the day. If they sleep in another person’s aura, their system can’t help but continually run that energy through their system, robbing them of the opportunity for real rest.

They also benefit from going to bed before they’re exhausted. They need time to transition.
